Physician-owned orthopedic clinic on Gruene Rd. — in-network with most plans, with same-week appointments for new patients.
Most patients come to us with one of the following problems. Most of these are managed without surgery — bracing, physical therapy, injections, and time. We start there, and only consider the operating room when those approaches have been tried or are not appropriate for the diagnosis.
We treat the full range of orthopedic problems in New Braunfels — from arthritis and overuse injuries to acute fractures.
Most orthopedic problems get better without surgery. Rest, physical therapy, bracing, and injections solve far more cases than the operating room does. Surgery is the path when conservative care has been tried and a clear structural problem is causing the pain. See every non-operative option we offer →
Being in-network means your insurance has a contract with us — so the visit is billed at your plan's negotiated rate instead of out-of-network rates. We accept Medicare, Tricare, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna, Cigna, UnitedHealthcare, and Humana, plus most other commercial plans. Networks change every year, so call ahead to confirm your specific plan.
The New Braunfels office is on Gruene Rd., a short drive from Canyon Lake, the northern San Antonio suburbs, and the I-35 corridor between San Antonio and Austin. Drive times below are approximate.
New patients are typically scheduled within the same week. When you call, the scheduling team will ask a few questions about what's going on and book you with the right surgeon. After-hours fractures and acute injuries are routed to the on-call surgeon — call (830) 625-0009 and follow the prompts.
We are in-network with Medicare, Tricare, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna, Cigna, UnitedHealthcare, Humana, and most other commercial plans. Because plans change every year, the most reliable check is a five-minute call to the number on the back of your card. See our full insurance & payment page →
For most plans, no — you can schedule directly with us for an orthopedic consult. Some HMO plans do require a referral from your primary care doctor before the visit is covered. The fastest way to know is to call your insurer's member services number; we'll also flag it when we verify your benefits before your appointment. Plan-specific guidance →
Both. Depending on the visit type and provider availability, you may be seen by one of our orthopedic surgeons or by one of our physician assistants. Physician assistants (PAs) at OSI work alongside the surgeons — they have full access to the same imaging and records, they assist in the operating room for many of our procedures, and they coordinate care between visits. If your visit involves a decision about surgery, that conversation happens with the surgeon.
